Speaking at the Hannover Fair, the world’s leading trade fair for industrial technology, Mr Pollaers said the world was moving fast, adopting new technologies and manufacturing processes, and creating new industries.

“Australia’s future resilience depends on a full understanding of these opportunities – new technologies and approaches to industry that are being grabbed with both hands by other advanced economies.”

Mr Pollaers said Australian policy reform must take into account globalisation, trade liberalisation and highly competitive global supply chains.

“These factors have imposed new business models in which innovation, design, brands, trademarks and goodwill are fundamental business assets and drivers of global value,” he said.
